Dungeons and Dragons is a fantasy tabletop RPG, commonly known as the originator of modern role-playing games. D&D digresses from traditional war games in that instead of leading a military formation, the player takes on a single character. Players cooperate as they embark on imaginary adventures in a fantasy setting.
The Game Master – known as the Dungeon Master – is the games referee and storyteller who also plays the part of NPCs (non-playable characters).
Throughout numerous sessions, a player will attempt to increase stat points to enhance his character.
They do so by making joint effort with other players to solve dilemmas, engage in battles, and acquire treasures and knowledge.
The remarkable success of D&D resulted in the spawning of several other games following similar rules.
And different iterations of D&D, including a relatively simplified version, a rule-heavy version, as well as 2nd, 3rd, 3.5th, and 4th editions have also been made.
